Provides general household assistance, emotional support, care and companionship for aged or disabled people in their own homes.

UNIT GROUP 4231 AGED AND DISABLED CARERS

AGED AND DISABLED CARERS provide general household assistance, emotional support, care and companionship for aged and disabled persons in their own homes.

Indicative Skill Level:
Most occupations in this unit group have a level of skill commensurate with the qualifications and experience outlined below.

In Australia:

AQF Certificate II or III (ANZSCO Skill Level 4)
In New Zealand:NZ Register Level 2 or 3 qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 4)
At least one year of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.

Tasks Include:

      • accompanying aged and disabled persons during daily activities
      • assisting clients with their mobility
      • preparing food for clients
      • arranging social activities
      • performing housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming and cleaning
      • assisting in personal hygiene and dressing
      • providing companionship, friendship and emotional support
      • may do shopping and run errands
      • may live in with the person

02. Skills Assessment & Checklist

02.1 Steps

Step 1. Collect and scan copies of the following original supporting documents:

      • bio-statistical page(s) of passport
      • two other official identity documents, including one official photo bearing document eg. driver’s license
      • change of name documents (marriage certificate, decree nisi, deed poll)
      • an official passport-sized photograph taken in the last 6 months (No selfie-style photos or photos with filters will be accepted)
      • if applicable, graduation certificates and transcripts from relevant qualifications only – your transcripts need to include commencement and completion dates.
      • if applicable, a professional reference written by an employer (also known as a statement of service) showing a minimum of 3 months of relevant work experience within the last 18 months and an official position description for the industry experience.
      • Agent Authorisation Form (Please download) – if you have nominated an agent to act on your behalf

Step 2. DLEGAL will create an account and apply for the skills assessment on your behalf.

Step 3. Completing the application:

      • completing the online form
      • processing your credit card payment – the cost of this assessment is $595.00.
      • checking you received an email from ACWA confirming successful receipt of your application and payment.
      • contacting DLEGALif this confirmation email is not received within 24 hours.
      • uploading your supporting documents once payment is confirmed.
      • avoid account deletion by submitting your application and payment within one calendar month of creating your account.

02.3 Document scanning requirements for skills assessment

All supporting documents must meet these minimum scanning requirements:

      • original documents only
      • scanned in colour.
      • scanned at a resolution of 600 dpi (dots per inch) or above.
      • file must be a .pdf

The passport sized photo must be a .jpeg, .jpg or .png. You may need to change the settings of the scanner to meet these requirements.

ACWA does not accept documents that have been uploaded using CamScanner (or similar) software.

02.4 Professional references standard

All your professional references MUST meet the following criteria:

      • be on official letterhead.
      • be written by a direct supervisor who is a nurse, midwife, or clinical supervisor.
      • be dated.
      • contain an original signature.
      • include this contact information for each referee:
        • official workplace email address (ACWA will not accept emails that are sent from free web-based email accounts)
        • contact telephone number for the organisation (mobile phones will not be accepted).

Please provide ACWA’s professional reference template (Please download) to your referee. This will help your referee ensure the content of the reference meets our strict requirements.

Please note pay slips, tax certificates and service and human resource statements are not acceptable in lieu of a professional reference.

02.5 Protocol Communication

There is a basic communication protocol that our firm requires its clients to follow. They are as follows:

a. Email subject line

Example: Birth Certificate/ John Citizen (your name)
Use one email per subject matter – I.e., do not attach passport in the Birth certificate attachment email.

b. Standards when sending documents.

      1. Name each attachment. Example: Birth Certificate/ John Citizen (your name)
      2. Do not send each page individually scanned even in the same email or separate pages of the same document in different emails or.
        Do not post originals unless we ask
      3. Attachment format .PDF Word or JPEG

c. Communications

      1. All communications must be emailed via info@dlegal.com.au
        We only accept and reply to your nominated email.
      2. All written communications to us can be followed up by a verbal clarification if required.
      3. Mobile /telephone
        • We do not respond or give advice via text. Do not provide instructions via text.
        • only to make appointments and for clarification on our written communications.
      4. Request for adhoc advice – We only provide advice in a proper consultation or within the retainer via an email.
      5. You must provide updates in writing: e.g.: change of address/contacts.
        • A failure will result in adverse consequences.

d. Response time

      1. Phone messages – if non-urgent – within 1- 3 business days
      2. Email
        • No response to ad-hoc requests for advice if we are not retained for relevant work
        • Generally, within 1- 3 business day
      3. Work – We will advise when we start your work, may take up to 1-3 weeks
      4. Confirmation – Once the evidence is all sent confirm it via email.

  • The skills assessment does not guarantee employment or migration to Australia.
  • English Language Requirement. For the visa, you may require an overall score of IELTS 5.0 (or equivalent), with a minimum individual band score of: 5.0 for Speaking and Listening 4.5 for Reading and Writing.
