In January 2022, the Australian Government temporarily relaxed working hour restrictions for student visa holders to address workforce shortages.
However, it is important to note these changes will end on 30 June 2023. From July 2023, the number of working hours for international students will be capped again.
The number of hours will be revised with a view to finding the right balance between work and study.
Until this time, international students can work more than 40 hours a fortnight in any sector of the economy. This includes new students who can also work before their course of study commences.
Students must still:
- Maintain their course enrolment,
- Ensure satisfactory course attendance
- Ensure satisfactory course progress.
Student visa holders who cancel their enrolment and stop attending classes, or fail to meet satisfactory course progress, may be in breach of their visa conditions.
- If you are interested in studying in Australia
