10. Study documents

Provide a completion letter from your education provider, stating:

the date the course started
the date you completed the course
your education provider’s CRICOS code

You must also provide a certified copy of course transcripts.

If you have had any course credit applied to your course and you want to use the credit to meet the Australian study requirement, you must also provide those course details. You must prove that your credit met the Australian study requirement.

11. Skills assessment documents

(Note: this is not required for applications lodged between 1 July 2022 and 30 June 2023)

Provide evidence that your skills have been assessed as suitable for your nominated occupation by the relevant assessment authority.

If you haven’t got one yet, you can provide evidence that you have applied to the relevant assessment authority to have your skills assessed, and send the completed assessment before we make a decision on your visa.

Attach the completed assessment as soon as you can in ImmiAccount.

12. English language requirements

You must have undertaken an English test in the 3 years before you apply for this visa. You must provide your English language test results, proving your English proficiency.

English language test providers and the test scores needed.

Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-based Test (TOEFL iBT)	Total score of at least 64 with a minimum score of 4 for listening, 4 for reading, 14 for writing and 14 for speaking
Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic)	Overall score of at least 50 with a minimum score of 36 for each of the 4 parts
Occupational English Test (OET)	At least B for each of the 4 components
Cambridge C1 Advanced test	Overall at least 169 with a minimum score of at least 154 in each of the 4 test components

You do not need to provide any results if you hold a valid passport from:

the United Kingdom
Canada
New Zealand
the United States
the Republic of Ireland

13. Work experience

Work experience outside Australia

In the last 10 years, how long have you worked in your nominated skilled occupation or closely related skilled occupation outside Australia?

Evidence to attach to your application

You must provide evidence of your specific work experience. This could include employment references and duty statements covering the required period. Please note that employment references must:

be written on the official letterhead of the company or government department providing the reference.
indicate clearly on the letterhead, the full address of the company, any telephone and fax numbers, and email and website addresses.
have the name and position of the person authorised to sign the employment reference typed or stamped below that person’s signature. A reference with an illegible signature will not be accepted.
include the direct contact number of the person writing the reference.
indicate the exact period of employment, including:
- whether permanent or temporary
- full or part time
- the main five duties undertaken
- the salary earned
- include a payslip from your current employment; this is especially important for applicants working in government departments.
- position/s held
  Note: Positions should not be described by generic titles (for example, research officer) but according to the nature of the duties undertaken (for example, research chemist)

Other documents to confirm your work experience claims may include, but are not limited to:

contracts
tax returns
group certificates
superannuation information.

Australian work experience

You are eligible to be awarded Australian work experience points if you have been employed in Australia:

in an occupation listed on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL)
while holding a visa that allows you to work
for at least 20 hours a week
in a paid position
at a skilled level in your nominated occupation or in a closely related occupation on the SOL
for a period(s) totalling at least one (1) year in the four (4) years immediately before the day you lodge your application.

Evidence to attach to your application

If you are seeking points for Australian work experience, you must attach certified copies of your work references totalling the required one (1) year period.

Your work experience references must:

be written on the official letterhead of the company or government department providing the reference. The letterhead should indicate clearly the full address of the company and any telephone, fax numbers, email and website addresses.
include the name and position of the person authorised to sign the employment reference which should be typed or stamped below that person’s signature – a reference with an illegible signature will not be accepted.

14. Regional Australia study, if applicable

You can be awarded points if you have met the Australian study requirement while living and studying in a ‘regional Australia low population growth metropolitan area’ in Australia.

Evidence to attach to your application

You must provide documentary evidence that you have lived and studied in ‘Regional Australia/ low population growth metropolitan areas’. This evidence may include, but is not limited to:

documentary evidence of residency which covers the relevant period. This will usually include documents such as rental agreements and gas, power and telephone bills.
evidence of studying at a campus in regional Australia or a low population growth metropolitan area if your academic transcript does not identify the campus.

To be awarded these points, documentary evidence as described above must be included with your application.

17. Health insurance documents

You must prove that you have adequate health insurance in Australia. Provide:

a signed letter from your health insurance provider(s)
a Medicare card or proof of your enrolment with Medicare
evidence of health insurance that currently covers you and will cover your stay on a Subclass 485 visa, dating from the date of visa application for it.

18. Character documents

You and any other applicants over 16 years of age must provide evidence that you have applied for an Australian Federal Police check during the 12 months before you apply for this visa.

We only accept complete disclosure National Police Certificates issued by the Australian Federal Police. We do not accept standard disclosure certificates or national police certificates issued by Australian state or territory police.

an overseas police certificate from every country, including your home country, where you spent a total of 12 months or more in the last 10 years since you turned 16
